idgard paves the way to the digital future for companies and organisations where data protection and confidentiality are paramount. Our development team does its best for this. It currently consists of around 80 developers who are constantly optimising idgard as a premium product in secure cloud collaboration.

The leading team
The uniscon GmbH management team around Karl Altmann (CEO), Jens Schmalz (CFO), Siegfried Kirschner (CISO), Sebastian Eder (CTO), Markus Kieslich (CRO), Julia Kessel (HR Director) and Jörg Marcus Horn (CPO) combine decades of expertise in IT security, software, product and business development – in leading positions in Germany and worldwide.
As an agile team with a strong mindset for innovative ideas, we take security in the cloud to a new level.
Karl Altmann – CEO uniscon GmbH
The experienced IT security specialist Karl Altmann has been leading the business of uniscon GmbH since March 2018. He counts on two decades of professional experience in the IT security sector and is considered a practice-oriented manager with extensive sales experience. Among other things, Mr Altmann was Area Vice President of the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) at Imperva, a leading provider of data and application security solutions. Before that he was a co-founder of SINUUM GmbH, a value-added distributor for security solutions. He also served as President and CEO for the cybersecurity company Microdasys in the US and Europe
Jörg Marcus Horn – CPO uniscon GmbH
Cybersecurity expert Jörg Marcus Horn joined uniscon in April 2019 and became Chief Product Officer a year later. He has been working in the IT sector for more than 20 years, including over 18 years at Utimaco, a provider of high security technologies.
His areas of expertise include business and sales development. With his extensive experience, he is responsible for the strategic development of the Secure Content Collaboration Platform idgard.
Jens Schmalz – CFO uniscon GmbH
Since 2019, Jens Schmalz is with uniscon in his role as Chief Financial Officer and authorised offer. Overall Jens has 17 years of experience in the financial sector including prior roles in the Corporate Finance Department of Deutsche Bank and Director in the Mergers & Acquisitions department of TUV SUD.
His responsibilities comprise finance, accounting, legal, tax and commercial operations.
Siegfried Kirschner – CISO uniscon GmbH
Siegfried Kirschner is Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at uniscon since May 2024. In this role, he is responsible primarily for information security, data protection and IT compliance. His duties also include the continuous development of the company’s security strategy as well as compliance with international standards and EU-wide regulations.
Siegfried contributes extensive experience from his previous positions as CISO, e.g. at Sixt Leasing SE (now Allane SE) and from management consulting. With his expertise, including the areas of risk management and compliance, he supports uniscon and its customers in implementing the highest security requirements.
Sebastian Eder – CTO uniscon GmbH
As Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at uniscon, Sebastian Eder is in charge of the development department and is responsible for the company’s technological strategy. His focus is on scaling the team and ensuring the highest quality standards, especially in the areas of security and maintainability of the software.
Previously, Sebastian was a CEO, CTO and co-founder of Qualicen, a successful start-up in the field of natural language processing and AI. He holds a PhD in Software Maintenance from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and worked at the Chair of Software & Systems Engineering for several years.
Markus Kieslich – CRO uniscon GmbH
As Chief Revenue Officer, Markus is overseeing all revenue generation processes at idgard | uniscon by creating alignment between marketing, sales and customer success to maximize profitability and drive business growth.
Markus joined uniscon in 2012, building up the marketing strategy and department from scratch. He holds a Master’s degree in Marketing & Channel Management from the University of Göttingen and completed the Power MBA Advanced from ThePower Business School.
